TerraStop® Rock Mattresses are a “thin” gabion, designed for use in applications such as creek and channel linings to provide robust erosion and scour control.

Description

TerraStop® Rock Mattresses are heavily galvanized, hexagonal steel-wire mesh cage, traditionally used in applications such as slope protection, culvert aprons, creek, and channel linings where long term scour is an issue.

Units are either zinc galvanised or an additional PVC coating applied to ensure extra durability for the surrounding environment. A more superior coating is also available for severe corrosive conditions such as marine environments. The development of a zinc plus 5% aluminium alloy known as Aluzinc is the next step in the fight against steel corrosion. A PVC coating on the Aluzinc alloy can be added for ultimate durability.

TerraStop® Gabion Rock Mattresses create flexible, durable and permanent structures that resist erosive forces. In structural applications, mass gravity gabion walls can resist significant earth pressures that cause overturning, and in architectural applications, select gabion rock infill coupled with quality workmanship can produce an aesthetically pleasing gabion wall that blends in with the natural environment.

Applications

Raymond Chow has been involved with the geosynthetics industry for over 15 years.
