Keep your skills sharp and your knowledge current with our geosynthetic CPD programs
Continuing professional development is a wise investment for any stageof your career, helping to ensure you stay ahead of the curve in your chosen field.
How CPD programs can benefit your career
For engineers, contractors, designers and other professionals working with geosynthetic products, the rapid development of new products and constantly changing best practices mean that you need to keep your skills sharp.
Approaching each new project with a growth mindset, and learning new information about products, techniques and installation methods, will ensure that you’re well placed to deliver the best solutions for your clients.
A professional team to support your ongoing learning
The Polyfabrics team has been helping businesses deliver successful geosynthetic projects for over 30 years. Led by accomplished technical engineers and consultants, Polyfabrics hosts regular live webinars covering everything from soil reinforcement over soft soils, to protecting slopes with geocells.
Designed to deliver concise and actionable insights in a bite-sized format, our webinars provide a boost to your professional development without eating into your busy schedule.
Technical Manager Raymond Chow explains that the Polyfabrics webinar series has been a resounding success, with many more planned for 2022.
“Along with the solid technical information, it’s great to see some robust discussions and great networking opportunities grow organically out of these events,” notes Ray.
“Not only can professionals claim their attendance for CPD points, but they can also build their professional network within industries such as civil engineering, landscaping, building and construction.”
Ray specialises in designs and technical solutions and has hosted several continuing professional development events to date. Likewise, NSW technical consultant Garry Gersak is involved in providing highly specialised soil improvement solutions and provides technical geosynthetic training to small groups.
“I’m a bit of an out-of-the-box thinker so I love having the opportunity to share the different ways we’ve approached challenges and found solutions to curly problems,” says Garry.
“Sharing this knowledge for the good of the industry means we can all benefit – both from an individual career perspective, and simply lifting the standards of the industry in general.”
Expanding your geosynthetic knowledge with CPD
The most effective way to improve your knowledge and skills in geosynthetics is to undertake some form of continuing professional development. This can include informal work-related events, roundtable discussions, participation in committees, working groups, as well as formal tertiary education.
It is much easier (and arguably more enjoyable) to participate in regular, small, informal CPD events rather than take on a long-term commitment such as an accredited course or postgraduate degree.
This is where CPD comes into its own: its accessibility means attendees can become part of the conversation without an onerous time commitment.
Continuing education in geosynthetic products, technologies and techniques is available through many channels, and at Polyfabrics we’re working on expanding our technical training material to include additional educational opportunities for engineers, contractors and designers.
