Project: Julia Reserve Recreational Hub
Location: Peter Brock Drive, Oran Park NSW 2570
Products: TerraDrain® TD10 & Flexiseal® HD 150mmx10m
Western Sydney is eagerly anticipating the completion of Julia Reserve Recreation Hub which will include a skate bowl, basketball court and parkour area.
Landcom engaged our customer to execute bulk earthworks, retaining walls, stormwater drainage and water treatment devices for Julia Reserve. This project also involved the installation of a series of reinforced concrete box culverts.
Located in the centre of Oran Park Town, the heavy traffic as well as the cost of importing fill material was of primary concern to the contractor.
Our Solution: TerraDrain TD10 & FlexiSeal HD
TerraDrain TD10 and FlexiSeal HD each perform multifaceted roles in managing sub-surface water around the precast elements. Flexible, robust & easy-to-apply, FlexiSeal HD can join and seal any given precast element while TerraDrain TD10 provides critical protection and hydrostatic relief.
TerraDrain TD10 is designed as an alternative to expensive gravel drains in retaining structures. It can be back-filled with soil reducing the amount of gravel used in a project. Terradrain is a dimpled plastic sheet that provides effective drainage and waterproof membrane protection on foundation walls and other underground structures (such as box culverts). The integrated non-woven geotextile covering the dimples prevents soil particles blocking the drainage sheet , creating an air gap for reliable ventilation and inflow. The product effectively captures and transports high water volumes while resisting high loads from earth & formwork.
The customer used FlexiSeal HD to seal the box culvert joins. then installed TerraDrain TD10 vertically along the face . Masonry nails were used to hold the sheet in place before being backfilled with site w0n material. The contractor was able to create an efficient cost-effective subsurface drainage system and, in the process, provide a tangible reduction in emissions and environmental impacts.
